It's Thanksgiving day so why not be thankful and experience these benefits of gratefulness. 1. Gratefulness keeps us humble and puts us in a position to receive even greater blessings. As we stop to thank God for the things that are good in our life it reminds us that He is the source of all good to whom we should be thankful. This foundational attitude of reliance and thankfulness to God puts us in a position to receive even more of the good that He desires to bring our way. 2. Being grateful takes our eyes off of what is wrong and puts our eyes on what is right. All of us have areas of our life that could be better or need improvement but if we stop to simply look around us there are many blessings for which we can be grateful. As we focus on the blessing we do have and push out the thoughts of what we don't have it improves our spiritual mental and even physical health. 3. Being grateful allows us to displace worry with thoughts of gratitude and thankfulness for the good in our life. When we fill our minds with grateful thoughts for the things around us it removes the opportunity to worry about the things beyond our control or the things that aren't as we hope they would be. It truly allows us to cast our cares on the Lord, commit the desires of our heart to Him and experience the peace that passes all understanding. Spend time exploring the landscape of your life to see all the blessings that are actually there. There is always good for which we can be grateful and you might be surprised to find that your life is better than you think! It's Thanksgiving so choose to be grateful!!
